Tired

Exhausted, more like. Important lesson learned today. If you stay out all night with mono, and then get up at your regular time without getting a normal number of hours of sleep, you don't eat the next day. I had absolutely no appetite all day, and had to leave work early because I was just too tired to be of any use to them. So, hopefully no more late nights without having a weekend day to sleep in. It's not like I need to lose any more weight, really (and how often do you hear that from a gay man?). I wouldn't mind trading fat for muscle, but I don't need to get any lighter. Lost 3 lbs. already as it is.

Enjoyed making the dinner whose ingredients I was out helping to select at whatever hour it was Brian C. and I were out until. Sausage and Peppers with Pasta! Yum! Though, frustration of frustrations, found the Beaujolais Nouveau for which Jason had been searching (and which had gotten such stunning reviews from Wine Spectator), and arrived at the register just after midnight, so couldn't purchase it. Blast. But, happy ending, Brian C. went out and found some, a bottle for me and abottle for dinner. Only could sip due to the lovely mono, but it was very, very good. And altogether wonderful evening, even if I wasn't up to 100%.

Back at the gym now this week. Since I can do light workouts and I can't run, I will go hit the weights again and get back into that habit.

Caffeine

Lovely party at Brian G's house this afternoon. It was a lot of fun, met some people from online with whom I had spoken, but not yet met in person. I'm afraid I was playing the mono to the full, though (not intentionally!). Flopped myself in a chair in the corner, sucked down soda (blasted stuff kept me up til midnight, too - I guess that's what I get for eschewing my morning caffeine the last few weeks) and chatted with folks. Found myself surrounded many times by chatty (not catty, chatty) folks, eager to listen to the details of my ridiculous life and my ravings on the wonderfulness of this year's Beaujolais Nouveau.

But back to the caffeine. I've pretty much given it up the past 4 weeks. Couldn't drink coffee the week I was out with "strep" (and got so sick of soda), had it the first two days I was back at work, then just stopped. Had soda or iced tea for a few days to get a little perk, but then quit even that, at least regularly. I have to say, it's been nice not needing the stuff first thing in the morning. Breaking an addiction is hard, but worthwhile, I suppose. Now the stuff hits me like anything else, hard. Just need to up my water intake at work now.

Bathroom, Part Deux

My workplace must have the most bizarre bathroom since Ally McBeal. I never thought I'd be writing about toilets, but when the strange things happen therein, well, who am I do deny memorializing the incident?

Today's little incident wasn't a yodeling contractor like last time. Today was a gentleman playing with some sort of electronic device while he took care of his business. Now, I'm all for multi- tasking, but c'mon! At first I thought the electronic tones were simply something normal, like the ceiling tiles creaking, or the air vents rattling; the noise was at a low pitch, and at infrequent, non-regular intervals so it was easy to mistake it for such. Then he must have scored a goal or what not, because out came a much higher pitched noise.

Iwondered if he simply hadn't had enough fiber in his diet or what? How did he have so much time to spend in the restroom? And what kind of example is he setting? Next thing you know, bosses will expect you to carry a laptop in to continue your current task without skipping more than the time it takes to walk to the restroom. Is there no end to the madness? ;-)

Miscellany

Uneventful day (so why am I writing? because I just polished off a ton of entries I'd not finished and got them ready for uploading, that's why). Energy levels were about at normal, which was nice. I'll get enough sleep tonight to make the gym tomorrow and get in a good workout. Finally indulged the cookie craving I've had for the past few days and bought some oreos. Comfort food - oreos and milk. With a Lactaid pill and 100% lactose reduced Lactaid milk, of course, but still comfort food. Since I rarely indulge my dairy needs past my breakfast cereal, this was a good snack.

The little party Brian C. took me to last night was nice. Much calmer than the ones over the weekend, which were a tad loud and crowded, especially given the mono-induced fatigue. Nice to attend, don't get me wrong; I enjoyed getting out finally (having the energy to get out, even briefly, was marvelous). Just wish I had more energy to get out more.
