03/06/28 p.m. 1:44:53 run in RCP (~>8 mi). Miserable, miserable walk/run. Lessons learned: start earlier on Saturday mornings when it's still cooler; get more sleep on Friday; don't be afraid to walk (wasn't!); listen to the body and turn around at a sensible place (did, sort-of); one miserable run does not wreck the entirety of the training. Just did not have my heart in this run for some reason, so I turned around earlier (Thompson's Boat House), but still walked for a lot of the time out. Oh well, there will be better runs later!

03/06/27 a.m. 33:31 run in RCP (3 mi). Humid, humid, humid. The first truly humid day we've had this season. The run went pretty well, despite the thick air. Legs were sore to start, probably from the three day delay, but that's okay. Soon enough I'll be adding swimming to the mix, too, so more and more exercise is on the way...

03/06/24 a.m. 32:49 run in RCP (3 mi). Negative split (16:27). Yay! Run went very well. Legs were a bit stiff in the beginning, but quickly loosened up and got into it. Was pleased that the left ankle gave me no problems today, after the twinges I had in it on Sunday (woke up, took a step, instantly felt like I'd pulled something). I guess the rest, ice and ibuprofen did their job. Nice temps, not too hot yet, mildly humid. All in all a good run.

03/06/21 p.m. 2:11:01 run in RCP (~>10 mi). Several discoveries today on an absolutely gorgeous day for a run (high 60s, low humidity, nice breeze, mostly sunny). First, body glide is a good thing between the legs where the thighs come together. Second, some sort of carbohydrate gel is my friend on long runs. Those were the good things. The negative things were that I also need to put body glide on my inner upper arms if I'm going to run in a sleeveless top (the right arm got mildly irritated by rubbing on the shirt, and not noticed until I stopped), I need to take more than one gel and have one after an hour and another in about 1/2 an hour to 40 minutes. I didn't quite hit the wall, but I did come close. Walked most of the last 1/2 mile because I just didn't have the energy to run it. No blisters, so the socks worked. My left nipple is a tad sore and there's a definite rubbed patch on there, so that'll need body glide or something else as well. All told, not a bad run. I ran all the way down past the Lincoln and over Memorial Bridge to the other side of the Potomac in Virginia and back. First time I've run in Virginia since 1999, I think. So, not bad. I've stretched, but I know I'll be sore tomorrow. All part of the learning process.

03/06/18 a.m. 42:14 run in RCP (4 mi). Another fast run, again just missed a negative split (20:55). Don't know why I've been running so quickly of late, but it's zippng right along. Was the first time I've run 4 miles on a weekday morning, which was interesting. I'll have to get moving more quickly in the morning to keep that up. Humid as all out there, cool, but I was soaked when I got in from sweat. Feeling good. If the plan sticks for this week I'll do about 20 miles (3-4-3-10).

03/06/16 a.m. 32:06 run in RCP (3 mi). Ran faster than expected, though just missed a negative split (16:02 turnaround). Did feel that I was running faster, but for some reason the body wanted that, so the body got it. A little humid, not too bad. I suspect the ride to work will feel worse than the run did, humidity-wise.

03/06/15 p.m. 45:22 run in RCP (4 mi). Meant to do 6, did 4 instead. Had intermittent heartburn, which I think is partly the fault of losing a battle with caffeine this week. So, now proof that that, too, interferes with running, and reason to dump it entirely. Plan is for 60 out on Saturday, so will need to log 3/4/3 or so this week to prep for it. Had an even split, 22:41, so was not disappointed, though the run was slower than usual.

03/06/10 a.m. 34:16 run in RCP (3 mi). Not sore, but took it slow anyway. Turned around at 17:02, so no negative split, but no worries there, just wanted to get through 3 miles and not feel dead. On that score, was successful.

03/06/08 a.m. 1:42:46 run in RCP (~>9 mi). Ran down to the middle "alcove" at the Kennedy Center and back. Is now officially the longest run I've ever done (previous record was the Thompson Boat House driveway before the Watergate). Run went well. As usual, just went into automatic pilot and ran along without much variation in pace. Did have to stop once to get something out of my sock and once to readjust my underwear. Cool weather, 60s, humid.

03/06/06 a.m. 32:31 run in RCP (3 mi). Not quite a negative split, 16:08, but not bad. Progressively faster each day this week, which seems odd, but there you go. Run went well, some inner lower leg soreness at the beginning, but it worked out. May have to start wearing a hat to keep the sun out of my eyes - still get glare when the sun is dead on with these glasses.

03/06/04 a.m. 32:38 run in RCP (3 mi). Negative split, don't know why this didn't post on Wednesday, but evidently not.

03/06/02 a.m. 33:04 run in RCP (3 mi). Another negative split, barely. Turnaround was 16:40, and I wasn't expecting to make it, but my now customary sprint at the end of the run (reminding myself what it's like not to plod!) got me under, if only just. The run went well. Knees were a tad sore at the turnaround, but they seemed to even out eventually, and the end of the run was fine.
